Warren Tredrea sacked by Port over controversial podcast

Warren Tredrea has been acrimoniously sacked by the Port Adelaide board.
His dismissal comes as a result of an investigation into comments made by a guest on his "Ballsy" podcast earlier this year.
The Jewish Council of Australia claimed the guest amplified far-right anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.
A statement released by the club said: "The Port Adelaide Football Club Board advises that Mr Warren Tredrea has today been removed as a Director of Port Adelaide Football Club Limited.
"The Board conducted a governance review earlier this year. Following that review, the Board sought to engage with Mr Tredrea to agree certain actions to be taken by him in his capacity as a Director.
"Amongst other things, the Board formally requested that Mr Tredrea agree to a Club Statement which included an apology to the Club and anyone who took offence to the comments made on his podcast by Mr AJ Roberts.
"Mr Tredrea refused to agree with the public apology request to close out the matter. The Board has afforded Mr Tredrea numerous opportunities to reconsider his position, which he has not changed.
"After exhausting all reasonable avenues for resolution, the Board determined that Mr Tredrea's continuation as a Director was not in the best interests of the Club.
"With the support of the AFL, the process was implemented in accordance with the Corporations Act and the Club's Constitution.
"The Board prides itself on operating in a collaborative and productive way to best deliver outcomes to the Club and its members. Where these values cannot be upheld, good governance requires appropriate action to be taken.
"The Board wishes to make clear: this is a governance matter relating to its expectations of Club Directors.
"It is not, and should never be interpreted as, a reflection on Warren Tredrea's extraordinary contribution to Port Adelaide as a player. Warren Tredrea is a Premiership captain, Club Champion, and one of the greatest players to represent the Club.
"His legacy as a player is secure and will forever be celebrated by this Club and our members. That legacy remains untarnished and separate from this governance decision.
"The Board remains focused on its responsibilities to lead Port Adelaide Football Club with integrity and in the best interests of all members.
"The Club will advise in due course on the next steps for the members to elect a new Director at the next Annual General Meeting.
"The Club will make no further comment on this matter."
