Carlton interim coach Josh Fraser is expected to put his hand up for the senior role.
The Blues’ assistant turned interim head coach has taken the season by storm, taking the reigns from Michael Voss and winning nine from his 11 matches in charge to march Carlton into September contention.
Given his immediate influence, Fraser has fielded numerous questions surrounding his desire to apply for the senior role, standing firm on his original declaration that he was not prepared to take on the head coaching role on a full-time basis.
However, as the Blues’ winning ways continue, Fraser has been urged to reconsider, as the Blues enter the final stages of their search for the club’s next leader.
Speaking on SEN Breakfast, Carlton GM Chris Davies stated that he and the club have requested that Fraser considers himself for the role, earning endorsement from club officials and players alike.
And as reported by SEN’s Tom Morris, Fraser’s confidants believe that the in-demand interim is likely to raise his hand.
“The expectation from people I speak to around Josh Fraser is that he will put his hand up for this job,” Morris told SEN Crunch Time.
“It’s just a matter of when he does that and when he actually pulls that trigger.
“But there is no doubt, according to people I speak to, that he will do this. It’s just a matter of whether he gets it or not.”
The role of head coach will be the last thing on Blues fans’ mind tonight, as they head into a must-win contest against the Saints at Marvel Stadium.
A win, and the Blues are best placed to secure 10th place and a spot in September.
