The seven teams King is ruling out of premiership contention before the 2025 season

SEN’s David King has named the seven teams he doesn’t think can win the 2025 AFL premiership.
On top of naming the three sides that everyone thinks are deep in a rebuild in West Coast, Richmond and North Melbourne, King also thinks another four sides don’t have what it takes to make the top four and genuinely compete for a flag this campaign.
He made his picks and explained why on SEN Breakfast to his co-host Kane Cornes.
“People that to have some sort of common sense would say the West Coast, Richmond and North Melbourne would not be winning the flag in 2025. I’ll walk from Fireball if any of those three make the top four,” King said on SEN Breakfast.
“St Kilda can't win it. They’re just not good enough and they’re a little banged up with injury at the start of the season. I just don’t think they’re there yet, they’re a couple of years away.
“Essendon are the same for me and Gold Coast need a year of making finals before they’re winning it.
“Two teams I think that will spike but not necessarily to top four are Melbourne and Adelaide but leave the Crows out in case Izak Rankine goes gangbusters.
“With Adelaide out, the other seven I say can't win it.”
