Steve Smith steals the show as Sixers lock in Grand Final
The Sydney Sixers have locked themselves into the BBL 15 Grand Final, thanks to a 57-run victory against the Hobart Hurricanes.
Steve Smith once again stole the show, top-scoring for the fifth time in as many innings, recording 65 runs off 43 balls.
The Sixer's batted first, scoring 198 runs after 20 overs.
Australian cricketer Riley Meredith took the most wickets for the Hurricanes (3), While Billy Stanlake and Rishad Hossain managed two each.
It was Hossain who finally took Smith's wicket, leaving the Australian Test captain disappointed at himself after failing a switch hit.
Chasing 199 runs, the Hurricanes lost both their openers within the first 3 overs, before Beau Webster and Ben McDermott banded together for a partnership of 48 runs.
While the Webster and McDermott partnership had the Hurricanes right in the game, after it ended the Sixers started taking wickets for fun, bowling the Hurricanes all out for 141 runs.
The Sixers will now look to win back-to-back premierships on Sunday night.
They Grand Final will take place in Perth and kicks off at 7:15pm AEDT.
Steve Smith even took to his Instagram Story to share his excitement for the challenge ahead, sharing a photo of when he competed against the Scorchers in the first ever BBL Grand Final 15 year's ago.
