Kane Cornes and David King have assessed every club’s start to the 2025 AFL season as the competition reaches the halfway point.
Debated on SEN’s Fireball, the former greats discuss what areas each team is performing well in and where they need to improve in the back half of the season.
With Geelong heading into their mid-season bye in third spot, Cornes and King had a closer look at the Cats first 15 games.
Chris Scott’s men are currently 10-5 and look set to finish inside the top four for the 15th time since 2007.

The Cats were expected to contend once again in 2025 after losing a Preliminary Final by just 10 points to the eventual premiers last year.
The side brought in Bailey Smith during last year’s trade period for just pick 17 and has proven to be an absolute steal with the midfielder in the running for an elusive Brownlow mMdal.
King felt that the changes Chris Scott made during the off-season has done wonders for the side and they should go close to winning another premiership.
“The big wins have been the role that Bailey Smith has come in and just played from minute one,” King said.
“It has been an unbelievable acquisition for Chris and his midfield core.
“Max Holmes going to the next level again, to superstar status in our competition if you are really watching footy closely enough he’s probably in the top six or seven players in the comp.
“The role that (Patrick) Dangerfield has fulfilled, didn’t have his best moments on the weekend, couldn’t find a goal but he’s been a revelation inside that forward fifty.
“They really have all the assets that are going to give them another opportunity this year.
“I know the Brisbane Lions have their measure the last few times and Chris Fagan has worked out in many ways how to play against this Chris Scott sort of formation.
“They are going to be there again no doubt.”
