Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick has commented on the Charlie Curnow speculation.
It came to light earlier this week that the Carlton forward was reportedly open to a potential move to the Suns.
While Hardwick was non-committal regarding the specific nature of the speculation, he did speak about the growing desire for players to head north and join an emerging team like the Suns.
“I think this time of year you can understand, there’s name being bandied around and all that sort of stuff,” Hardwick told reporters.
“We’re like any other club, we’re trying to improve our list and what that looks like.
“Taking the Curnow name out of it, what I do know is that people will start to look at Gold Coast as an unbelievable lifestyle up here. Trust me, I know, I live it.
“But more importantly they’re looking at the emerging side that we’ve got and they’re thinking, ‘This side is looking pretty good’.
“We can understand people hopefully want to come here and join on this journey. As we said last year we’re looking to bring the very best players to our footy club.”
It is also believed that Curnow is open to Sydney and Geelong in a bid to get out of the Melbourne footy bubble.
Carlton coach Michael Voss remains steadfast that the two-time Coleman Medallist will not leave the club anytime soon.
“Charlie is a Carlton man and he’ll stay a Carlton man,” said Voss on Wednesday.
“It’s very hard to operate on conversation or even answer something on hearsay… Charlie is a very important person to us and he’ll play out his career here – he’s a Carlton person and will stay one.”
Hardwick’s Suns face Brisbane in a massive Q-Clash at People First Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
