See the top 10 below.
10 β Bailey Dale (Western Bulldogs)
βFour of the last five years, if he continues like that, will be a top 10 player in the competition (based) off our rating system,β Hoyne told SENβs Sportsday.
9 β Nick Blakey (Sydney)
βThis will be three years in a row (in the top 10) if he continues this way.β
8 β Paul Curtis (North Melbourne)
βThere is a lot of talk off the back of what (Patrick) Dangerfield did on the weekendβ¦ Who is that All-Australian forward at the moment?
β(Because) this guy is flying at the moment.β
7 β Jack Sinclair (St Kilda)
βA staple in our top 10.
βJack Sinclair, going really well.β
6 β Andrew Brayshaw (Fremantle)
βAndrew Brayshawβs never been a top 85 player in our ratings system.
βHeβs always hovered around that top 100 rating because heβs able to win the footy and heβs able to impact with his pressure.
βHow he is using the footy is the reason why he has elevated his game this year.β
5 β Riley Thilthorpe (Adelaide)
βRiley Thilthorpe still hanging around in there.
βFifth-highest rated player at the moment, number one rated key forward in our game.
βHow he wins it forward half of the groundβ¦ He does that so well.β
4 β Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera (St Kilda)
βInteresting to see him play a little bit more centre bounce minutes over the last couple of weeks.
βHow he uses the footy is up there with the best in the competition.β
3 β Ben Long (Gold Coast)
βThatβs the biggest surprise of the year.
βI think the competition is aware of what this guy is doing.
βHeβs significant to what (Gold Coast) have done this year.β
2 β Ed Richards (Western Bulldogs)
βHas been inside our top 50 for the last three seasons.
βBut what he is doing at the moment, he is the gameβs best midfielder.
βHis performance on the weekend and so far this year has been superb.β
1 β Lachie Ash (GWS)
βWhat this guy is doing at the moment has been phenomenal.
Hoyne also revealed key players to watch based off their ratings system β both negative and positive.
Other notable players that have risen and fallen
Josh Ward (Hawthorn)
βJosh Ward at the moment is flying, in terms of his ability to impact the game," Hoyne said.
βHe might be another beneficiary of this blessing-in-disguise piece of opportunity through injury.
βHeβs now starting to get a lot more centre bounce minutes, and what heβs doing at the moment is superb.β
Oliver Dempsey (Geelong)
βOllie Dempsey is flying at the momentβ¦ Heβs a top 50 player in the competition.
βIf you think heβs a winger, youβll get fooled and youβll get exposed.
βTreat him as a forward and not a winger.β
Bailey Williams (Western Bulldogs)
βBailey Williams has moved down back for the Dogs over the last couple of weeks.
βHeβs going extremely well, playing as a permanent defender.β
Max Holmes (Geelong)
βHeβs gone from the fifth-best player in the comp last year to outside the top hundred at the moment.
βThey need to get him up and going. Jeremy Cameron likewise β heβs currently sitting at 110.β
