Can impressive Stringer take GWS’ forward line to the next level in 2025?

Jake Stringer is set to add an interesting bow to GWS’ forward line this season after impressing in the club’s match simulation on Monday.
The former Don played forward in the ‘white team’ alongside Toby Greene and Jake Riccardi with the trio impressing as a group according to News Corp’s Lachlan McKirdy.
Once the best 22 is put together, Stringer could line up inside 50 alongside Greene, Jesse Hogan, Brent Daniels, Aaron Cadman and Darcy Jones and McKirdy expects that mix to cause some havoc.
“Stringer is going to add an interesting bow to their forward line, I think,” McKirdy told SEN Afternoons.
“They kind of really mix the teams up … the Giants basically put a pen down the middle and kind of split their best 22 evenly.
“Stringer was working really nicely with the likes of Toby Greene, and it gave a bit of room for Jake Riccardi to kind of shine as well.
“So, I think their forward mix is going to be fascinating once they get them all in the same line.”
After watching the match sim up close, McKirdy is also bullish about GWS’ group of young small forwards, which paired with the stars they already possess should again make the side a premiership threat in 2025.
“Their young sort of smalls I think is what’s going to set them apart,” McKirdy said.
“Darcy Jones, who obviously had a fantastic breakout year, but I think guys like Toby McMullin are ones to look out for, even young Harvey Thomas.
“I think there's a really good level of small forwards coming through at the Giants and they will probably be the difference.
“They really trust that their brand of footy stacks up. I think their defence is as good as anyone … they’ve obviously got a Coleman Medallist and a pretty elite midfield.
“I feel like they've got the pieces there to get the job done again if they can get that far.”
GWS open their season with an Opening Round clash against Collingwood at ENGIE Stadium on Sunday, March 9.
