Collingwood fought valiantly to overcome Melbourne by six points to finish Friday night sitting in third position. The winner of Brisbane v Hawthorn might push them down to fourth, but the Magpies look to have locked up the double chance.
Gold Coast missed the opportunity to lock away their first ever finals campaign, losing to Port Adelaide by four points in another Friday night thriller. It was a great Power send-off for the departing Ken Hinkley and Travis Boak. Damien Hardwick's Suns now sit ninth and MUST beat Essendon on Wednesday night to see September action for the first time.
