Watson: Stop the clickbait and appreciate greatness

This is a question on Scott Pendlebury.
Was his contract altered last year in preparation for this record-breaking year and the merchandising windfall?
Well, the answer is no, because it's been ticked off by the AFL.
So now all those mean-spirited headline-chasing members of our media need to cease trying to create clickbait.
This is not a loophole; it's a once-off, and the AFL should send out and underline this notification to every club in the game.
If and when you have a player who breaks the game's record, your player will also be afforded the same consideration.
Here should be the criteria from the AFL.
- You have to have played 433+ games.
- You have to have played in two premierships
- You've got to be a six-time All-Australian
- You've got to have won five club B&Fs
- And you have to have played at the same club for 21+ seasons
This is the greatest football achievement in our lifetime.
Let's park our club loyalties, our pettiness, and applaud a man who has exemplified the best our game has to offer and delivered in spades.
Any club that wouldn't try to maximise one of their own becoming the game's record holder does not understand the importance of elevating and celebrating their own.
Collingwood Football Club's greatest achievement this year will be Scott Pendlebury.
