Trade talk: Dees midfielder committed to staying put despite trade links
Clayton Oliver remains committed to Melbourne and is determined to be a major part of Steven King’s side next year.
Twelve months on from a volatile exchange period in which the Demons explored trading him and he met with Geelong, Oliver is said to have fallen back in love with the club.
Oliver’s manager Nick Gieschen of Connors Sports Management said his client was resolute on staying put.
“He’s very happy at Melbourne, loves the club and wants to have a great season in 2026,” Gieschen said.
“He’s a Melbourne person.”
While rumours persist around the future of teammate Christian Petracca, Oliver wants to remain a part of King’s plans for next year.
A triple All-Australian and four-time best and fairest winner, Oliver has a lucrative contract at Melbourne until the end of 2030.
