Cats axe talented young midfielder

Geelong has delisted promising midfielder Ted Clohesy.
The 21-year-old, taken as a Category B Rookie in 2023, featured 12 times for the Cats including nine times in 2025, averaging eight disposals and two tackles per game.
Featuring heavily within Geelong’s VFL setup, Clohesy finished second in the side’s best and fairest in 2024, while claiming another top 10 finish this season despite breaking into the senior setup.
"Ted has had a positive impact at the club and has been a consistent performer at VFL level, finishing runner-up in our best and fairest in 2024 and placing in the top 10 again this season," Geelong general manager of football Andrew Mackie said.
"We would like to thank Ted for his contribution to our football program and wish him all the best in the future."
Essendon, West Coast and Gold Coast have previously expressed interest in Clohesy’s services, who is likely to find his way back onto an AFL list in the coming months.
Geelong have also delisted youngsters George Stevens and Keighton Matofai-Forbes, however have committed to redrafting the pair at the upcoming Rookie Draft.
