“Within the next three weeks": NSWRL chief responds to Voss' NSW coach ultimatum
New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) CEO David Trodden has responded to *SEN’s* Andrew Voss and confirmed that a new coach for the NSW Blues men’s team will be announced imminently.

Voss said on *SEN* that he was [disappointed the position of NSW coach had been left vacant](https://www.sen.com.au/news/2024/11/17/voss-throws-ultimatum-towards-nswrl-to-name-next-blues-coach-by-end-of) for so long following Michael Maguire’s appointment as coach of the Brisbane Broncos.

Whilst he admitted no formal interviews had yet been conducted, Trodden revealed there was no shortage of candidates and a new coach would certainly be hired before the end of 2024.

“It’s in everybody’s interest to finalise the process,” Trodden told *SEN 1170 Breakfast*.

“We want to get the right outcome and we will take as much time (as we need if necessary).

“There’s no artificial time constraint in which we then work backwards to achieve an outcome (but) we are not that far away.

“We have a list of about half a dozen qualities that we would like in our next coach. It will eventually spit out one or two candidates that are the most likely.

“The list (of candidates) would be in excess of a dozen. All of whom could easily do the job. They are people who are well credentialed and highly capable.

“We will definitely have a new coach by Christmas. I’m not sure we will have one by the start of December (but) we will have one sooner rather than later.

“Within the next three weeks, I’m pretty confident that we will have it all wrapped up and have some exciting announcements to make.”

Game I of the 2025 State of Origin series will be held at Suncorp Stadium on May 28 next year.
