Bryn Hall’s return to Super Rugby with the Hurricanes may be newly announced, but the move has been in the works for some time according to the 34-year-old.
The North Harbour halfback announced on Thursday that he's signed a one-year deal with the Wellington based team after four years away from Super Rugby which included a stint playing in Japan.
He previously represented the Blues from 2013 to 2016 and the Crusaders from 2017 to 2022.
“I kept it a little bit. I think I've known for quite a while since coming back from Japan, but as it goes, you kind of just have to hold on to that information,” he told Sport Nation's Millsy & Guy.

He said the connection with Hurricanes coach Clark Laidlaw had begun two years earlier, when a conversation took place around the halfback’s move to Japan.
“I think it's quite funny, it was two years ago when I was going over to Japan previously reached out to me just to go and have a little bit of a conversation and see where I was at, so that's funny how things kind of happen a couple of years later.”
The champion sides style of play was a major draw, with Hall excited to join a team whose brand of rugby has impressed him.
“I think when I first did sign, it was more so like how the Hurricanes are playing. Like I think everybody in New Zealand and even the Hurricanes fans can appreciate the brand of footy that they are playing at the moment.
“So really excited to get down there next year.”

He is also excited use his overseas skillset to grow younger players and take on whatever role the team needs.
“They've got a great squad down there, some great leaders, and they've got a lot of great things that are already instilled in there.
“So for me it's been able to just keep competing and I still love the game and I guess from my experience, being able to help young guys coming through, whatever the group kind of needs me to do.
“At the same time, it’s given the opportunity to play, come on and be able to add some experience and be able close out games properly with obviously Cam (Roigard) being there as well.”
