The close calls former Pie had with tasting premiership glory
Collingwood great Wayne Richardson is this week’s guest on This Is Your Journey – thanks to Tobin Brothers.
Hailing from South Fremantle, Richardson became one of Collingwood’s all-timers across a career in the 60s and 70s.
The on-baller featured in 277 VFL games in the black and white and kicked 323 goals.
During his time at the Pies, Richardson served as captain for five seasons while winning Copeland Trophies in 1971 and 1974.
While Richardson made it to the last Saturday of September on four occasions, he never tasted premiership glory at the club as Collingwood endured a premiership drought from 1958 to 1990.
Despite never holding the V/AFL cup aloft, Richardson is remembered as one of Collingwood’s legends having been named in the club’s team of the century and earning a spot in the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2003.
The former Magpie discussed his career and much more in this week’s episode.

Listen to Richardson’s full chat with Sam Edmund below.
