The final meeting in a stretch of four consecutive Sundays in Devonport has arrived with an eight-race program.
The fields are small throughout the day, with many stables likely looking forward to a return to Launceston on Friday night.
Race 1 is set for 13:00.
Best Bet
Race 1 – 7. Star Fortian
Sunday looks like a real favourites day, and I think it’ll be starting in the first with Star Fortian. I’m a big fan of last season’s 2yo form, and this filly took on the likes of Zany Girl, Sanniya and Crack the Shutters in her three runs to date. Needless to say, there is nothing of that quality in this lineup, and she’s been brought up to the mark with two handy trials. I doubt there will be much in the price, but I’d be surprised if Star Fortian isn’t winning.

Race 7 – 1. Vagabond Hero
Trained in Victoria by Tom Conlan, Vagabond Hero ventured south last Sunday in search of a suitable synthetic race, and it was mission accomplished with a dominant win. He sat outside a genuine tempo there but was still as strong as anything through the line. This race is harder, but I think the map sets up similarly, and while he rises 1.5kg, he’s a proven weight carrier from his Victorian victories.

Race 5 – 5. Cool Conquest
I gave Cool Conquest a puncher’s chance at big odds last start, and while she was no match for the plunge horse, Hartman, she ran home strongly to beat the rest. A smaller field and softer draw suggest Cool Conquest won’t be as far off the speed here, and I think she’s the clear danger to the favourite Geegees Missile.
