Tasracing's Friday best bets at Launceston (13/03)
Matt Reid • March 13th, 2026 2:33 pm

Feature racing heads to Launceston on Friday night with a nine-race card headlined by the $50,000 Tasmanian St Leger.
It’s a strong night of racing, with the Summer Racing Festival form extending into March.
The rail is in the +1m position with a fine weather forecast.
Best Bet
Race 2 – 8. Veins Within Rock
Veins Within Rock had his first Tassie start on Launceston Cup Day, where he covered a stack of ground from a wide barrier and was beaten by the favourite, who enjoyed a nice run in the lead. He’s remained in the state, and importantly, comes up with the inside draw here for Cup-winning jockey Jett Stanley. He’s clearly the one to beat.
Next best
Race 7 – 2. In the Ocean
Interesting open handicap despite the small field, with a few different formlines. The placement looks ideal, though for In the Ocean. All six of his career wins have been over the Launceston 1100m, and he’s very well weighted here with 52.5kg for gun apprentice Jabez Johnstone. The market has trended towards a few others, but I have In the Ocean as the standout.
Best value
Race 9 – 10. Wednesday’s Boss
Open race to finish the night, and that’s where we head for the best each-way. The challenges with Wednesday’s Boss have been on display this campaign. She was narrowly beaten first-up when she settled handy to the speed, and in subsequent runs she’s been near the rear and too far back to make an impact. She’s drawn low here and, importantly, has the blinkers back on. If she can land midfield or better, she may be hard to hold out.
