SEN Breakfast, Whateley lead SEN 1116am’s Survey 2 results
Sports Entertainment Network’s (SEN) 1116am in Melbourne has delivered steady audience growth, according to GfK Radio 360’s Survey 2 2026 results, released today.
SEN 1116am increased its overall audience share (People 10+) to 3.1%, alongside a cumulative audience of 351,000*, with gains driven by strong performances across the station’s programming.
SEN Breakfast - which features Fireball with Kane & Kingy (with Kane Cornes and David King) on Mondays and Fridays, and Breakfast with Garry & Tim (with Garry Lyon and Tim Watson) from Tuesday to Thursday - recorded a 4.1% market share and a cumulative audience of 174,990**, continuing to attract Melbourne listeners through opinion and analysis.
Meanwhile, morning flagship program Whateley, hosted by Gerard Whateley, also delivered growth, recording a 3.8% market share and cumulative audience of 149,829***, reinforcing its position as a cornerstone of SEN 1116am’s weekday offering.
SEN also saw strong growth across its AFL Nation product, with increases in all key timeslots from Thursday to Sunday as the season kicked off.
Coinciding with the Survey 2 period, SEN 1116am recorded its strongest digital period to date, with 549,000 web and app users and nearly 99 million total streams, up 29% year‑on‑year. Total minutes streamed climbed 6%, while podcast downloads surged 25%, highlighting sustained audience loyalty across long‑form content. Digital growth was echoed on social platforms, with 54% growth in social views and continued increases in app screen views (+26% YoY) across the Survey 2 window.
The strong digital performance was underpinned by the Australian Podcast Ranker results, released yesterday, which confirmed SEN Breakfast as Australia’s number one radio show podcast, measured by both total listeners and total downloads. In March 2026, SEN Breakfast ranked #10 overall across all Australian podcasts, recording 395,189 monthly listeners and 1,398,899 downloads, extending its lead over all competing radio podcasts nationally. Other SEN 1116am programs also featured prominently in the Australian Podcast Ranker, including Whateley (#49), Sportsday (#126), Crunch Time (#181), SEN Afternoons (Dwayne’s World) (#218) and Off the Bench (#264), highlighting strong on‑demand engagement across SEN’s suite of Melbourne‑based programming.
SEN’s Group Radio Director, Sam Thompson, said the Survey 2 results reflect consistency in content and audience connection.
“Survey 2 shows solid progress for SEN 1116am, particularly across SEN Breakfast, Whateley and our AFL Nation products, where live sport and informed conversation continue to resonate with Melbourne audiences,” Thompson said. “The strength of our podcast rankings, led by SEN Breakfast sitting as the number one radio podcast in the country, reinforces how strongly our Melbourne content is connecting with audiences beyond live broadcast.”
