Storm make surprise call on Grant suspension

Melbourne Storm captain Harry Grant has accepted an early plea regarding his Grade Two shoulder charge on Bulldogs’ second rower Harry Hayes.
Grant would make contact with Hayes’ head during the 45th minute of Melbourne’s 20-14 win against the Canterbury Bulldogs at AAMI Park on Friday night which earned him a trip to the sin bin.
That would also be enough for the NRL judiciary to rule it as a Grade Two shoulder charge compared to a Grade One, which would have seen him fined, as it is his first offence.
Over the weekend, the Storm’s Director of Football, Frank Ponissi, admitted he was surprised by the grading of the charge and said that the club would consider appealing it.
But with the potential possibility of missing their qualifying final if their appeal was unsuccessful, the Storm have taken the early plea option.
The starting hooker will now miss their clashes against the Brisbane Broncos and Sydney Roosters. But will be ready to go when finals come about.
