Nic Ashman's best bets at Randwick and The Valley (09/08)

Form analyst Nic Ashman has provided his best bets for this weekend on SENTrackβs Giddy Up.
Ashman analysed the key races at Randwick and Moonee Valley to hopefully find a few winners.
See his best bets below:
RANDWICK
Race 6 | 14. Elle Hudson
βItβs double figures into single figures,β exclaimed Ashman.
βA couple of horses have come out and I think the map looks a bit better for this guy, who was looking like he was gonna get buried along the inside.
βHe went out beyond 2000m for the first time last start, and he was probably just short of peak fitness.
βHe sort of came around the turn and looked like he was gonna put them away, but he peaked on his run.
βHe was on the seven-day backup on that occasion.
βJoe Prideβs not overly tough on his horses, so I think when his horses get out to these distances, they quite often need a go at the trip before they improve enough to win.
βSo, I think around that sort of $9, $10 mark, heβs gotta be in the mix.β
Race 3 | 8. Karinska
βChris Waller trains his three-year-old filly taking on the older horses,β revealed Ashman.
βSheβs a really interesting runner. Not often Chris throws his three-year-old filly at this time of year in against the older horses.
βHe ran her in the Magic Night, and one of the other two-year-old Stakes races before that, off the back of a brilliant trail (and) a debut win at Canterbury.
βNow, sheβs first-up in the second preparation.
βTo me, this looks like an attempt to get a boost of her domestic rating, to get into those three-year-old Stakes races in the next few weeks.
βSo, Iβd be keeping a close eye on her.β
Race 7 | 12. Theblade
βMy best for the day, I think heβs a Stakes class horse,β admitted Ashman.
βYes, he has only one trail, in whatβs gonna be a bog track.
βHis wet dataβs pretty good.
βAnd I just think heβs Stakes class, and down on 54 kilos, Zac Lloyd in the saddle, he should just be too good for that field.β
Race 9 | 2. Adelaide River
βThebladeβs been gelded, and so has Adelaide River,β Ashman revealed.
βThe statistics around horses that resume first-up as a gelding β itβs about plus six percent profit on turnover for the last five years.
βIf you backed them all, youβd be in front.
βSo, itβs a good stat to follow, and this guy has great numbers over in Europe.
βSince being in Australia, we havenβt seen the best of him.
βJMac (James McDonald) ducked up to Gosford, a provincial track in Sydney to ride him in a trail β he sticks with him on race day.
βI think thatβs a good pointer.
βI think heβll be winning or going close to it on Saturday, and he might be the kind of horse that could end up in a metropolitan in a few weeks time.β
MOONEE VALLEY
Race 7 | 3. Relentless Voyager
βItβs D-Day for him, and this is the kind of race where he could win,β said Ashman.
βHeβs third-up, heβs having his third start in Australia, heβs had an apprentice jockey on board for his first two runs.
βBodes pretty quiet out the back, best last 200m of the race in each run, I think with a good rolling tempo tomorrow, he can probably settle midfield.
βWeβll find out how good he is.
βThis could be the kind of horse that Ciaron Maher picks off these types of races, and then he pops up in a major spring feature and heβs actually half a chance.β
