“Shambles”: Sacked Amini savages Glory after contract saga

Mustafa Amini has savaged the Perth Glory after his sacking and subsequent court battle.
The 32-year-old had his contract terminated by the Glory in December last year before he and the Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) took the matter to court.
The matter was resolved earlier this year, however, Amini did not hold back when speaking about the Glory who he says blocked him from receiving knee surgery last Christmas.
He described the A-League club as a “shambles” in the wake of his illegal contact termination.
“About eight players left contracts, terminations,” Amini said on SEN’s Sportsday WA.
“Everyone knows the story of the Glory, it was a shambles and still is a shambles at the moment.
“They’ve got 32 players on contract which is not normal at an A-League club. It’s Perth Glory at the end of the day, so I think it’s quite normal now.”
Amini was asked if he has a bitter taste in his mouth following the legal proceedings.
“I never did anything so that’s your case at the end of the day,” he said.
“For seven months I was out of the club, I went to get my surgery, my surgery got blocked by the doctors of the football club Perth Glory.
“They delayed me during Christmas and New Year’s knowing the surgeons are going on holidays. For six weeks I was left to do nothing. I knew I was going to get surgery but I wasn’t allowed to.
“Then I found out by email and Instagram that my contract was terminated. It’s a pretty crazy story but it’s a life lesson and shows you what type of people some people are.”
The former Socceroo and Borussia Dortmund midfielder captained the Glory during his time there and admits he still wants to see the club succeed.
However, he doesn’t see that occurring under the current administration.
“I love the city, I love the people, the fans always come up to me, and they know what Perth Glory is about at the moment,” he said further.
“When the wrong people are in charge of the club, this is what happens. That’s part of the culture, I guess.
“Hopefully they get back to the top where they belong, but I highly doubt it with the people in charge.”
Amini is fully fit after his knee injury and hoping for an opportunity at a new club. He is also in the process of obtaining his coaching badges as he looks towards the future.
