Monday best bets from Luke & Brown (01/09)
Cam Luke & Campbell Brown have your Monday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a look at Ballarat, Wellington & Port Macquarie to bring the Track family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇
Cam Luke
Port Macquarie: Race 1, No.1 - PRINCE RUPERTDeep into the preparation and has run really well so far. Honestly, it only has to beat the favourite, with a lack of depth in the race. River Biscotte will need to work a little bit to hold the lead as his natural racing pattern, so this bloke can just stalk him. Soft track - perfect, 1200m - perfect, blinkers on - like it. Going to be really hard to beat. I’ve also played the exacta and quinella as a saver.
Port Macquarie: Race 4, No.5 - CANNY PROSPECTRan pretty well resuming after a large break, and with a little luck in the straight probably would’ve finished closer than what he did. Soft track no concern, although drying would be a big tick. Back to the 1000m and drawn a little better today. Jockey might try and be a little more prominent in the run. Traditionally runs pretty well second-up.
Port Macquarie: Race 5, No.1 - REBELIOUS REDWon before being tipped out and has a lot to learn - I'm hoping he has! From that gate he will jump and lead, having a high cruising speed. Soft track no issue. Hasn’t been asked to do much in a couple of trials but he is a big strong boy who looks to have matured. If his mind has done the same, he will take a mountain of beating.
Wellington: Race 4, No.3 - WAY TO DEVINEI’m taking the favourite on here, who had every single favourite of Bathurst with this girl, who loves a toe in the ground. Has had a little freshen up which I think works and I believe she will be able to camp behind a speed that will have a enough juice in it to help her late. She’ll run a really strong mile, as always. The favourite
no doubt is going to be hard to beat from that great gate, but I’m gonna stick with the girl who I know loves the wet and the mile.
Wellington: Race 5, No.6 - SORRENTO PALACEPerfectly drawn today and first-up with this setup from that gate - I like. Just needs to remember how to win. Wonderful preparation last time out, but just the slight inability to get the nose down is a slight negative. Will be able to sit right on the back of the favourite Angie‘s Sister but is she a 900m specialist? If Sorrento Palace has come back in good order like last preparation, then that form will go very close here.
Ballarat: Race 2, No.8 - STORMBENDERRun pretty well on debut in a strong maiden, even though she was a little soft late. She got tipped out and looked a little more mature after a couple of jump outs, which were nice. She should go and control this race, so they need to run her down and I think the form in that first race is strong enough for this.
Campbell Brown
Ballarat: Race 1, No.4 - SPIRIT OF GAIABest run of its career last-start when really boxed on well to line, finishing second. From barrier 1 will jump and lead, and if replicates last-start will be winning at $2.30.
Wellington: Race 4, No.3 - WAY TO DIVINERarely runs a bad race on a soft track. Jockey knows the horse well and is a great each-way price at $6. I don't think the favourite appreciates the soft track.
Port Macquarie: Race 3, No.3 - KHANT FAIL
Backed this horse last-start when it broke the maiden and was very well backed late - $1.85 into $1.40. It ended up winning by 6 lengths. Drops back in distance today, but Jett Newman will jump and lead. It should just be too good $2.40 again.
