Buckaroo to bypass Turnbull Stakes
Buckaroo will not run in Saturday’s Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington, instead targeting the Might And Power (2000m) at Caulfield the weekend after.
Majority owner Ozzie Kheir and trainer Chris Waller have opted not to tackle stablemates Via Sistina, Aeliana and Moira at headquarters this weekend with the 2000m Group 1 on Caulfield Guineas day now on the cards.
Gareth Hall broke the news on Wednesday morning.

“Some news coming through, having a chat to Ozzie Kheir,” Hall said on SENTrack & RSN’s Giddy Up.
“Buckaroo will bypass the Turnbull Stakes and will head to the Might And Power.
“That $6.50 right now with Bet365 won’t last too long because I think the traders thought he might be going towards the Turnbull.
“But he’s definitely going there (to the Might And Power). Treasurethe Moment is $2.25, Buckaroo is $6.50. They should be a lot closer in the market.
“Mark Zahra, Blake Shinn and James McDonald the three options for Ozzie to choose from to ride Buckaroo.”
Since the news broke, Buckaroo has been turned into $3.50 with Bet365 for the Might And Power behind $1.90 favourite Treasurethe Moment.
Buckaroo is the $5.50 second favourite behind Half Yours ($4.50) for this year's Caulfield Cup (2400m). He ran second in the race last year.
