RSNβs Travis Noonan has praised Half Yours as the βunbeatableβ horse in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m).
The five-year-old gelding won the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes (2000m) in incredible fashion.
At the 200m, Half Yours bolted home proving that he can handle the 2400m distance of the Caulfield Cup easily.
Prior to the Naturalism Stakes, Travis Noonan claimed that Half Yours would start as favourite in the Caulfield Cup if he won the Group 3 and that is exactly what happened.
The Tony McEvoy trained chestnut is now the $5.50 favourite (on Sportsbet) alongside Buckaroo for the Cup.
βThere are receipts out there, we said Half Yours if he won the Naturalism, heβll go to the Caulfield Cup favourite and that is exactly what he did with a big performance in the Group 3,β Travis told SENTrack and RSN's Correct Weight.
βHalf Yours was too good for his opposition in the Naturalism Stakes, he absolutely bolted up in the end.
βThe way the race unfolded, Jamie (Melham) mustβve been laughing at the 600m mark because he was just trucking and she just had a great passage up along the inside.
βIt was a race that was run at a really good tempo and heβs run the ninth quickest last 200m of the entire day.β
Travisβ brother Nick also admitted that Half Yours now looks like a completely levelled up horse compared to six months ago.
βHe might go straight into a Caulfield Cup, maybe they look to give him another lead up run, but he is the favourite now,β Nick said.
βHeβs really come on, I remember seeing six months ago and he looks like a different horse now.
βHe looks like heβs at this level now, heβs really taken a lot of improvement and the way he handled himself (was incredible).
βHeβs gonna have a big impact in the Caulfield Cup. There are no doubts that he is probably the best placed horse right now at the weights.β
Thanks to winning the Naturalism Stakes both Travis and Nick believe that the gelding will receive a weight penalty in the Caulfield Cup.
Travis: βHeβs on 51kg in the Caulfield Cup which is the new minimum.β
βWhat do you think happens from a handicapping perspective?
βWill they be giving them any penalty for winning yesterday.
Nick: βI would imagine he gets some sort of penalty.
βHeβd have to.
Travis: βI think the maximum penalty would be a kilogram.β
Even with the predicted extra weight, Travis believes Half Yours is still impossible to beat in the Cup.
βI think heβs unbeatable in the Caulfield Cup,β Travis exclaimed.
βOn what he did there yesterday, if he gets a kilogram and heβs on 52kg β he can handle fast speeds, slow speeds, heβs got a turn of foot β gee, heβs gonna be hard to hold out.
Nick couldnβt agree with his brother though, as there are plenty of other horses who could take out the Cup, so Travis doubled down on his claim.
βHeβs gonna run a super race, but there is a bit of opposition there,β Nick disagreed.
βBuckaroo ran super yesterday, also Birdman.
βThere are a few others there who are putting their hand up.
βNah, I still stand by it, he is definitely the horse to beat,β Travis said.
βHeβs unbeatable in the Caulfield Cup.β
