Can NRL's $13m man handle pressure of positional switch?
Gold Coast Titans halfback Kieran Foran has backed compatriot Dylan Brown to make the challenging switch to halfback in the wake of his monster new deal with the Knights.
Traditionally viewed as a five-eighth, Brown this week secured a 10-year deal worth a reported $13 million dollars to join up with Newcastle in 2026.
Amid a wave of criticism not only about his decision to leave Parramatta but also regarding whether he has what it takes to make the positional switch, Foran is backing the Kiwi.
“I’ve been in camp with him for a number of years and we all know what a gifted player he is,” Foran told SEN.
“For a young guy he’s achieved a heck of a lot (so) I’m backing him in.
"I’ve played a lot of footy with him in the Kiwi side and he's a talented young footballer, does he need to polish up his end to sets and game management? Yes he can learn that but he’s got eight years ahead of him.

“I believe you can 100 per cent change from a 6 to a 7, it will take a lot of dedication and hard work from him. But he's got the attributes.
“He’s a strong runner he’s a great defender but yes he will have to improve his game management and striking of the ball. He’s 24 he has got talent coming out of his ears.”
Foran has endured a tricky pre-season after undergoing surgery on his shoulder. The veteran is not expected back in the side until at least Round 8 when his side travel to the Cowboys.
"I'm eyeing off a Round 8 return,” he added. “If everything goes to plan and our halves are flying I’ll come back as a 14 and play as a roving lock and hooker if need be."
