Lynn achieves BBL first as Strikers claim big win
Chris Lynn has continued to build his legacy as one of the all-time greats in the Big Bash League, becoming the first man to pass 4000 runs across his BBL career.
Playing for the Adelaide Strikers in their annual New Year’s Eve clash at the Adelaide Oval, the 35-year-old would chase down the Brisbane Heat’s target of 122 with relative ease, remaining not out with 79 runs off 41 balls to see the side win by seven wickets with just over five overs to spare.
The achievement of breaking 4000 runs would come quickly within his innings, having done it in the only way that Lynn knows how.
With the veteran batsmen’s dominant hitting, which included six sixes and six fours, the Strikers have now won a NYE clash for the first time since 2018.
Adelaide now moves into fourth place on the BBL ladder.
The BBL action continues on New Year’s Day with a big doubleheader.
To kick off the action in 2026, the Melbourne Renegades play host to the Sydney Sixers at Marvel Stadium with the first ball being bowled at 4pm AEDT.
That will then be followed by the Hobart Hurricanes versus the Perth Scorchers from 7:15pm at Ninja Stadium in Hobart.
Both games will be live on SEN’s radio network and on the SEN app.
