Joel Davies steers Sixers to ugly win over the Heat in Coffs Harbour
The Sydney Sixers have claimed their third win of the season after defeating the Brisbane Heat in a low scoring affair in Coffs Harbour.
After winning the toss and deciding to bowl first, the Sixers had the Heat on the ropes from the get-go as they found themselves at 4/43 within the first seven overs of the contest.
It wouldn’t get much better for Brisbane as they stumbled their way through the next five overs, losing another three wickets for only 30 runs.
Joel Davies was the man who did the most damage for the Sixers in the field, taking two wickets and only conceding 19 runs to see the Heat finish their innings at 9/114.
Despite the easy run chase, the Sixers were made to wait and earn it the hard way, as they suffered a collapse of their own when they found themselves at 4/47 at one stage.
But thanks to the steady heads of Davies (35) and Hayden Kerr (27), the Sixers were able to achieve the short run chase with eight balls to spare and ultimately walk away with the three-wicket win.
The victory for Sydney sees them stay in the hunt for top spot, as they moved up to fourth on the ladder. Whilst for the Heat, their fourth loss of the season has them stuck in fifth with multiple teams below them in reach of leap frogging them by the end of the week.
Next up for Brisbane, they will take on the Sydney Thunder at home on Saturday. Whilst for the Sixers, they will travel to Melbourne to take on the out of form Stars on Thursday.
