The One NZ Warriors' pre-season grind is officially underway, and CEO Cameron George joined Scotty and Izzy in studio this Tuesday to give the answers you wanted most, straight from the text line at 88 33.
As always with Cam, nothing was off limits.
He painted a clear picture of where the squad is at as summer training ramps up. “Like all pre-seasons, they are tough,” he said.
“The young kids get an opportunity to put their hand up and show the coaches their intent for the year and it is where your standards are set.”
Two new recruits are already turning heads. Morgan Gannon, fresh out of the United Kingdom, is still adjusting to the Auckland heat but impressing everyone around him.
“He is a real special talent,” George said. “I think he could be a real smoky this year that could really have an impact.”
Then there is Alofiana Khan-Pereira.
“With Loffy, there is speed and then there is speed speed,” Cam said with a laugh.
“He is just electric. He just wows you and he is a real cool dude. He is really good for the group.”
One of the highlights of the sit-down came when Cam described how he and head coach Andrew Webster have already mapped out the logistics of celebrating a Warriors NRL premiership.
“Me and Webby not long ago, having a few beers, we talked about it,” Cam said.
“We are dreaming about it and we are going to execute it."
"We are going to do a boat tour on Sydney Harbour on the Monday, everyone will be in bed by seven o’clock, Tuesday we will be fresher, on a plane, land at 2:55, that flight, we have it worked out, then we will be straight at the stadium with all the fans Tuesday afternoon.”
If manifesting was a sport, Cam and Webby might already be in the Finals.
