Aussie Ashes squad rocked by potential double injury

Cricket fans are holding their breath amid fears for Australia star Josh Hazlewood and reserve quick Sean Abbott who have both sustained potential injuries in the Sheffield Shield.
Initial reports from the SCG suggest both have suffered possible hamstring injuries putting their Ashes campaigns under a cloud.
Hazlewood and Abbott were forced to leave the field on Day 3 at the SCG where NSW are hosting Victoria in the Sheffield Shield.
Both bowlers bowled nine overs in Victoria's second innings of 9/171d and didn't return to the field after the Lunch break.
Cricket NSW and Cricket Australia have not yet confirmed the severity of the injuries, but Code Sports' Ben Horne says both hurt their hamstring.
Cricket.com.au's Andrew McGlashan, who is at the game, didn't notice anything immediately that suggested either player was injured, but confirmed that both were under assessment.
“What we can absolutely confirm is they haven't been on the field since Lunch and are being assessed,” McGlashan said on SEN Afternoons.
“There is obviously a report out there that is specifying that it's a hamstring, but that has not yet been more widely confirmed.
“The confirmation we have is that they are just being assessed at the moment, and we are awaiting further information, but of course, we're close enough to that first Test that anything like this is going to send some shudders through the Australian camp, particularly already missing Pat Cummins.
“Nothing immediately stood out, it was their lack of appearance back on the field when questions were asked.
“If there’s any minor niggle, it really does put the cat amongst the pigeons.”
If Hazlewood does miss the first Test, it opens the door for Brendan Doggett to make his debut given captain Pat Cummins will already miss with injury.
The first Test between Australia and England begins on November 21 at Optus Stadium. Catch every ball of the Ashes on the Sport Nation app via SEN.
