Sione Tuipulotu-led Scotland have been dealt a 43-21 defeat by New Zealand before the Australian leads his side against the Wallabies in the Nations Championship next week.
The All Blacks, fresh from their two impressive wins over Australia, stayed undefeated against Scotland and perfect in Nations Championship rugby after convincingly prevailing on Saturday in an entertaining contest during which the home skipper Tuipulotu spent 10 minutes in the sin bin.
The All Blacks edged a seven-try shootout in the first half then shut out Scotland in the second to take the tension out of Murrayfield for the last half-hour on a day when their great back Beauden Barrett scored twice to move to 50 Test tries.
On an emotional day, New Zealand were doubly determined to play well to honour the death last weekend of Logan Cadwallader, their security chief for 10 years, at the team hotel in Edinburgh.
As well as Barrett's double, Wallace Sititi, Ethan de Groot, Peter Lakai, Josh Moorby and Asafo Aumua also all crossed the line while Damian McKenzie kicked four conversions

Hooker Ewan Ashman notched a hat-trick of tries for Scotland in the first half, all converted by Finn Russell.
The win keeps New Zealand ‌alongside South Africa, who ‌thumped Italy earlier on Saturday, on 20 points at the top of the Southern Hemisphere standings but defeat for Scotland is a heavy blow to their hopes of topping the Northern Hemisphere section
"Very satisfying win," said All Blacks center Quinn Tupaea, the player of the match.
"It's been a tough week for the group but we rallied together well and got a good result at a difficult place to play."
The Scots rued near-misses against New Zealand in their most recent matches in 2017, 2022 and 2025 but could have no regrets this time as they succumbed in the second spell to the All Blacks' suffocating ball control and brilliant execution from set-pieces.
"They picked it up and we couldn't stick with them, its really disappointing," Tuipulotu, who got sin-binned in the second half amid an accumulation of offences in defence, said.
"We were playing our rugby in the first half, putting them under pressure with ball in hand, in a way they haven't been put under pressure for a few weeks. We just weren't accurate enough when we got down into the 22."
The All Blacks overcame two yellow cards to squeak out a 24-21 halftime lead but there was no doubt about the New Zealanders' supremacy after the break.
Around Scotland losing Tuipulotu, the All Blacks executed first phase from set-pieces with tries to wing Josh Moorby and Barrett, who became the ninth man all-time to 50 Test tries.
