Postecoglou linked with Premier League return
There’s unrest at Premier League club Nottingham Forest and Ange Postecoglou could reap the benefits as the Aussie coach is tipped with a return to the biggest league in football.
Forest’s current manager Nuno Espirito Santo went public with an admission of a total breakdown in his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis which has sparked rumours with the UK media that Postecoglou is in the running as a rapid replacement.
“There is no smoke without fire - I know how things work,” Nuno said of the rumours.
“I understand, because I’m worried. I’m the first one to be worried. I’m the first one to be concerned.
“It's not good. I always had a very good relationship with the owner. This season, not so well - our relations have changed.
“The reality is that it’s not what it used to be. It used to be a good, respectful relationship, based more on trust and sharing opinions, and now it's not so good.
“My job is to manage the team, prepare them well and try to get them to the next level.
“The club has different opinions, but I'm someone who says my opinions.”
It’s been just over two months since Postecoglou was infamously sacked by Tottenham boss Daniel Levy.
The axing came a matter of days after the 59-year-old had guided the club to victory in the Europa Cup.
According to reports in the UK media, Postecoglou has held “informal talks” with Marinakis and is keen to return to the Premier League.
Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is also believed to be on Forest’s radar.
