Who did the coaches miss in Opening Round?
Champion Data’s Daniel Hoyne has assessed which players were overlooked in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award.
See who the coaches missed below:
Lloyd Meek (HAW)
“Lloyd Meek didn’t get a vote from the coaches. We had him as the third highest rated player on the ground,” Hoyne said on SEN’s Sportsday.
“Two goals from Lloyd, getting forward and hurting Brodie Grundy that way. Very impressive.”
Brent Daniels (GWS)
“A Champion Data favourite and now, I think, an industry-wide favourite.
“He didn’t get a vote from the coaches. We had him as the third highest player on the ground.
“He might have the best feet in the industry. His ability to be able to get out of traffic is unbelievable.
“He absolutely torched Collingwood on the weekend.”
Hoyne also revealed the round’s Most Damaging Player (MDP).
“Impossible to go past Finn Callaghan,” he added.
“That will be one of the highest rated games that we’ll see across the season, let alone the round.
“His ball use was the second best by a midfielder in any game over the last eight years. Hard to go past him there.”
