Where do you rank this Australian team?
This generation of players hasn’t won in India or England. But they’ve retained the Ashes twice in the UK and have a 2-2 home record against India.
They have an ODI World Cup, a T20 World Cup, a World Test Championship, an upcoming final to make it two World Test Championships, and series wins in Pakistan and New Zealand.
If their legacy isn’t as strong as Steve Waugh’s world beating team, then where do you rank them?
Do you think they are mediocre? On the other side of the coin… They drew with Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, drew with the West Indies here last summer, and lost the last time they went to South Africa.
So where do you sit on the legacy of the Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood, Lyon, Smith, Khawaja era?
Of this group, only Cummins and possibly Lyon are likely to get to 2027 when Australia plays India away and England away in the space of six months.
That will be legacy defining, but for a future generation scattered with some current stars.
