Tredrea’s position on Port Adelaide board now “untenable”
Warren Tredrea’s position as a director on Port Adelaide’s board is untenable in the eyes of Kane Cornes.
The Power launched a “formal governance review” of Tredrea after the premiership captain included antisemitic content on his podcast, The Ballsy Show, which recently featured British Army veteran AJ Roberts.
It comes in the wake of his court appearance relating to a dispute with his former employer, the Nine Network, stemming from his refusal to be vaccinated for COVID-19.
As a result, Tredrea’s role at the Power has been questioned by his 2004 premiership teammate Cornes.
For a man who once said Power coach Ken Hinkley’s future was “untenable”, it appears the same is applicable for Tredrea.

“I don’t say this lightly because Warren is clearly a much-loved teammate of mine and premiership captain,” Cornes said on SEN’s Fireball.
“As I said last week when there was the latest controversy regarding him and his court appearance, he’s been very good to me and was the best player along with Gavin Wanganeen and Robbie Gray that I’ve played with.
“But right now Warren’s position on Port Adelaide’s board is untenable.
“When the story becomes about you, not for the first time, and not about the betterment of the football club, when Ken Hinkley, when Josh Carr, when whoever speaks at Port Adelaide is now asked about the latest controversy with Warren Tredrea, then that’s when your position becomes untenable.
“I think for Warren, he wants to go down the free speech path, and what he’s doing is taking a different direction. That is fine, but that’s only fine if it’s not a distraction for the position that you hold which is a powerful one at the Port Adelaide Football Club.
“Right now he must realise that his position on the Port Adelaide board is untenable. I think he’s got to come to that realisation himself, otherwise the club will be doing a review that they’re doing right now and they will come to that realisation themselves.”
Cornes’ co-host David King fully concurs.
“You can’t be the story,” said King. “You’ve got to be all hands on deck behind the scenes.
“When you’ve got someone that’s causing concerns and distraction, you can’t survive. Simple as that.”
As it stands, Tredrea’s position on the Port board is under review.
Chairman David Koch said in a club statement this week: “Directors and officials of the club are entitled to their personal views, however there are concerns that recent content published is in breach of these standards.
“The club is committed to upholding the professional standards our members, partners and the community expect and deserve.”
