The NRL has confirmed Eden Park will host the NZ Warriors’ elimination final against the Newcastle Knights in week two of the NRL Finals.
The move comes after the Warriors’ 26-16 defeat to the Dolphins in front of a sold-out Go Media Stadium, forcing Andrew Webster’s side to take the longer route in their bid for an inaugural premiership.
The Warriors had hoped to remain in New Zealand for a potential preliminary final, but that opportunity disappeared with the loss.

ARLC chairman Peter V'landys had previously indicated Eden Park would be used beyond the opening week of the Warriors' finals run, given its greater capacity.
Now, the Warriors must overcome the Knights at Eden Park to keep their season alive.
Eden Park CEO Nick Sautner said the venue would create a festival atmosphere for the Warriors’ elimination final against Newcastle next Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 6.05pm (NZ time), in what will be the first stress test for Auckland's recently opened City Rail Link network.

“We want every Wahs fan to feel at home at Eden Park. From the moment the gates to the Outer Oval open at 1.00pm, the precinct will come alive with music, activities and entertainment as we build towards kick-off,” Sautner said.
“With close to 50,000 fans expected, this has the potential to be the biggest NRL game in New Zealand history and one of the most memorable sporting occasions our country has witnessed.
“The City Rail Link will help bring fans directly to the Wah-Den of Eden, with Kingsland Station located immediately beside the stadium. We encourage everyone to arrive early, enjoy the fan experience and help create an atmosphere worthy of this historic final.”
Tickets will go on sale from 10am Monday for ticketed members, followed by non-ticketed members at 4pm. General public sale begins 10am Tuesday.
