Trade talk: Star Sun set to snub Pies and Dogs
Matt Rowell has turned down big money offers to commit to another two years with the Gold Coast Suns, according to reports.
With Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs among Victorian teams vying for his services, news of the 23-year-olds decision to stay put broke three-quarters of the way into his side’s clash with the Giants.
According to Fairfax, the former No 1 draft pick informed the Suns on Friday he wanted to stay and will put pen to paper on a two-year deal.
The media outlet also claims Rowell personally called Craig McRae and Luke Beveridge to inform them of his decision.
Rowell, who finished eighth in last year’s Brownlow count, is averaging 24.5 disposals, 8.2 tackles and 7.3 clearances a game in 2025.
The Suns are yet to comment on the reports.
