Trade talk: Port Adelaide confident they could strike a deal for Nasiah
Port Adelaide CEO Matthew Richardson has stated that he believes the club can get a deal done for Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera.
The future of the superstar Saint has remained up for debate, with the South Australian continuing to weigh up a move back home upon the expiration of his contract at the end of this season.
Sighted frequently with best friends Jason Horne-Francis and Jase Burgoyne, Port Adelaide certainly have the pull required to lure Wanganeen-Milera to the club, however it’s no secret that the deal would have to be extremely significant to convince the superstar to shift colours.
The fact the Adelaide Crows are also keen and the Saints are desperate to keep him makes this a tricky situation.
With constant talk of Nasiah’s appeal, SEN SA’s Kym Dillon and Michelangelo Rucci asked the question of what a trade for the star may look like, and whether Victorian star Zak Butters could be involved in a potential deal.

“All of these things are hypotheticals,” Richardson told SEN SA’s The Run Home.
“I get that people like to hypothesise and come up with all sorts of formulas on how you might like to make these work.
“What we have got is we’ve got a really strong list management team headed up by Jason Cripps and Chris Davies, who have done a really great job over a long period of time.
“We will put our faith and confidence in them that whatever they do this year is going to improve our list going into 2026.”
Despite the pretty penny that Wanganeen-Milera and St Kilda would demand, Richardson is confident that if given the opportunity, the Power have the tools required to strike a deal.
“Yeah, I’m confident that if that were to happen, that our guys would be able to find a way to make that deal happen,” he confirmed.
“But there is still a lot of water to go under the bridge yet. Again, our list management team are working through that, and if it gets to that point, I’m confident that we will find a way that we can make that happen.”
Speaking on his current list entering Josh Carr’s first season at the helm, Richardson confirmed that star midfielder Butters was certain to be a part of the team in 2026.
“With Zak, he has said himself, he’s contracted through until next year,” Richardson said.
“He will be at Port Adelaide next year and we’ll be doing everything we can for Zak to be a long-term player at Port Adelaide.
“Miles (Bergman) signed on halfway through the year, we are going into a really important phase, like every club will, about how we improve our list and how we get better.
“The first part of that is getting our players back fit and healthy, which obviously has been a big challenge for us this year.
“We’ve got three important games to make sure we finish off well and then that focus for 2026, and making sure we set up Josh well with the right people around him and strengthen our playing list will start to become our focus.”
Port Adelaide are set to host Fremantle this Saturday night.
