Trade talk: Eagles have ‘almost locked away’ star Magpie ruckman
SEN WA host Scott Cummings is hearing that West Coast are hellbent on trading for Collingwood’s Darcy Cameron this off-season.
The 29-year-old is in career-best form for the Magpies in 2025, averaging career-highs in disposals, marks, frees for, inside 50s and clearances.
While he doesn’t come out of contract at the AIA Centre until the end of the 2026 season, Cummings says he’s received mail that the Eagles have ‘almost locked away’ the West Australian native to request a move at the end of this year.
He discussed why the Eagles are targeting Cameron with his co-host Tim Gossage.

Cummings: “Speaking of ruckmen, I've got mail, and it hasn't come from Collingwood, it's come from elsewhere.
“But I've got mail that the Eagles have almost locked away Darcy Cameron. They're hellbent on Darcy Cameron.
“He’s a West Australian in career best form. But I’m not sure why a 29-year-ruckman, albeit that’s in career-best form, would be a priority.”
Gossage: “He's a star. He's second only to Max Gawn. He is a star and WA is home.”
Cummings: “He just immediately becomes the number one ruckman (at West Coast).”
Gossage: “He played in the flag (in 2023).”
Cummings: “He was a big, important part of it.”
Gossage: “So, he has nothing to prove at Collingwood.”
Drafted out of Claremont, Cameron has played 104 games for the Magpies since moving to the club ahead of the 2020 season, following one game for Sydney.
