“They’re irrelevant”: West Coast legend flames struggling club
West Coast great Glen Jakovich has flamed his former club, labelling the Eagles as “irrelevant”.
The 2018 premiers have struggled since 2022, finishing 17th, 18th, 16th and currently finding themselves sitting on the bottom with just one win.
Jakovich, who won two premierships with the club, took aim at the embattled Eagles and in particular the board which he described as “weak”.

“It’s a weak, weak board and it has been for a very, very long time, since 2018,” Jakovich said on 6PR.
“They got comfortable, they’ve lost their edge. They’re an irrelevant club on the other side of the eastern seaboard.
“They’re irrelevant, no one talks about them. They’ve won one game this year. They lose more at home, their football program is a basket case, their development program…
“I want to hear from them (the board). You don’t hear nothing from them. They’re irrelevant.
“I think their past 12 months in particular… it’s a bit hard to judge them on this year, but the damage we’re seeing now was seeded two to three years ago.
“That’s the justification that I’m asking for, and their silence on it - that’s a weak board, that’s a poor board.”
The Eagles, under Andrew McQualter, have won three less games than second-bottom North Melbourne in season 2025.
They next meet the top-of-the-table Adelaide Crows at Optus Stadium on Sunday evening.
