They could have “the biggest thing in footy”, but will the Dogs play finals in 2025?

Will the Bulldogs play finals for the sixth time in seven years in 2025?
David King is pretty confident that they will, along as Marcus Bontempelli keeps up his brilliant form.
With the Bulldogs’ over/under for wins on Sportsbet sitting at 12.5 wins – with 13 victories typically booking teams a spot in September - King thinks that the Dogs will get there, and he explained why on SEN Breakfast.
“They are (playing finals) as long as number four (Bontempelli) keeps playing like number four has always played,” King said on SEN Breakfast.
“If he dips five per cent and exposes the rest of the list, then the easy answer is no, but he hasn't dipped for the last six or seven years.
“He's just been that player every time. Now, he's still only 29 years of age, so he's still in his sweet spot. So, you don't expect him to drop off at all.
“I'm just not sure what's there to support him this year. I know Ed Richards has been a terrific midfielder over the last 20 games or so … Ryley Sanders looks terrific, he physically looks a different size and a different shape.”
As well as Bontempelli, King is excited about young star Sam Darcy who he thinks could be the biggest thing in footy by the end of the season.
While Darcy has played just 28 AFL games, King is salivating about the 208cm forward’s potential after he averaged 1.8 goals a game in 2024.
“Darcy's the one. Sam Darcy is the man,” King said.
“He could be the biggest thing in footy in 2025, (especially if) there’s no Jamarra (Ugle-Hagan) down there.
“He’s played less than 30 games of footy … I think he could be amazing.
“I'm over (12.5 wins), but not by a lot.”
King’s co-host Kane Cornes is picking the Dogs to go under that win total of 12.5. Check out their picks for the 17 other teams here.
