The decision the Cats came to regret in wake of Demons win

The decision the Cats came to regret in wake of Demons win
Geelong reminded the competition that they remain a real threat when they flex their muscles, especially at home this season.
But despite their 39-point victory over the languishing Demons, coach Chris Scott thought they got it wrong in playing intercepting defender Jack Henry.
The 26-year old left the field in the second quarter with a right hamstring tear that appears to be medium grade at this stage.
Scott thinks a foot/ankle injury Henry was carrying into the clash may have left his man vulnerable; and with the late withdrawal of Mark Blicavs due to illness, the premiership coach's hand may have been forced.
“Blicavs is such an important player for us, and him going out late threw our plans a little bit. We actually had an issue with Jack Henry an hour before the game, and it was sort of 50-50 as the whether he might play, and now we kind of rueing the decision, even though he started so well,” Scott explained.
“Any team would struggle taking two of your best – if not your best – key defenders out of the team, so given that backdrop, we were really pleased with the performance.
“It wasn't your standard 'everything went to plan' sort of night, we did need to adjust on the run. I thought the players really responded with that little shift in plan.”
The win sees the Cats go to a win/loss ledger of 2-2, while Melbourne are yet to taste victory in 2025 through four games.
