Reports have revealed that AFL CEO Andrew Dillon met with Geelong star Bailey Smith to discuss terms of his recent misdemeanours.
According to 7News reporter Mitch Cleary, Dillon drove to Smith’s property on Thursday night to sit down with Smith, alongside Geelong coach Chris Scott, chief executive Steve Hocking and head of football Andrew Mackie.
Discussions reportedly surrounded Smith’s behaviour, particularly his recent online comments suggesting the use of illicit substances.
While reports suggest that Smith was not sanctioned over the comment, the star midfielder was a late-out for Geelong’s clash with the Suns on Saturday, citing hamstring tightness.
Smith has been involved in a number of off-field controversies since joining the Cats, with multiple sanctions handed down for obscene gestures, making headlines for his comments regarding his former team and most recently suggesting the use of illicit drugs via Instagram.
Having not been included on Geelong’s injury list, Smith is expected to recover in time to take the field against Essendon next Saturday afternoon.
