Swans star ruled out of Cats clash with delayed concussion
Sydney star Brodie Grundy will miss the club’s Round 23 clash against Geelong due to concussion.
Grundy was helped from the field late in Sydney’s upset win over Brisbane on Saturday at the Gabba after being crunched in a marking contest.
While he passed his HIA immediately after the collision, Swans coach Dean Cox says he’s now been placed under concussion protocols after suffering delayed symptoms on Sunday.

“He obviously passed his HIA but then wasn't well yesterday,” Cox said on SEN Breakfast.
“So, he'll be into concussion protocols, which will mean he won't be available this weekend.
“He might be back for that (for the Eagles game). I think the thing we need to do with Brodie is to just assess day-to-day, which is what we have done with Hayden McLean.
“He (McLean) came back after the 12-day protocol, and Tom McCartin was a week earlier.
“We'll just assess it as it plays out.”
The blow comes at an unlucky time for the Swan, who has been making a late-season All-Australian push.
If Grundy passes through concussion protocols smoothly, he’ll be free to play in Sydney’s last game of 2025 against West Coast in Perth in Round 24.
