Should Renegades drop Fraser-McGurk amid “horrible patch of form”?
Should Jake Fraser-McGurk lose his place in the Melbourne Renegades’ XI?
SEN Cricket’s Darren Berry thinks things are heading that way after the 22-year-old’s BBL|14 campaign so far.
From eight innings this season, the dynamic top-order batsman has managed scores of 21, 5, 2, 26, 1, 12, 0 and 19 which equates to 86 runs at an average of 10.75.
His returns this season have been a far cry from his BBL|13 efforts where he broke out with 257 runs from eight innings at a ridiculous strike rate of 158.
While Berry is a big fan of the Australian international, he thinks that he’s lost at the moment with his technique as things aren’t clicking for him in the franchise competition.
“It's a horrible patch of form,” Berry said on SEN Afternoons.
“I love the kid, but he’s lost, really lost.
“When you watch him, it looks like he's a bit like Kenny Rogers at the moment … you got to know when to hold them and when to fold them, and he’s got it wrong.
“He's lost his balance, he's lost his shape … he has a long-term contract, and he’ll come back, but he’s lost.”

With a couple of games remaining and the Renegades at the bottom of the ladder, Berry would be looking at giving young batter Ollie Peake a chance instead of persisting with a horribly out-of-form Fraser-McGurk.
“I would get him out now and I'd get Geelong's Oliver Peake into the side,” Berry said.
“They played Harry Dixon last night, the young St Kilda kid and the ‘Gades started well and have fallen off the perch, so I’d be getting a couple of games into Peake and Dixon if I was Cameron White.
“Jake Fraser-McGurk is still part of the future, but he's had eight matches … he needs to go back and find his rhythm.”
The Renegades next face the Hurricanes in Hobart on Tuesday night before their regular season campaign finishes against the Heat at Marvel Stadium on Saturday evening.
