An agreement for American rapper Snoop Dogg to be the pre-game entertainment of the AFL Grand Final is drawing closer, according to Channel 9’s and SEN regular Tom Morris.
It was reported by Morris on Thursday night that the AFL had Snoop Dogg on their radar as a potential candidate for their pre-game entertainment.
And on SEN’s Crunch Time, Morris revealed that negotiations between the two parties are almost complete, with an announcement expected shortly.
“This is reaching a very pointy end of negotiations,” he said.
“So, Snoop Dogg has strongly been on the AFL’s radar to be the Grand Final entertainment.
“There has been no signature as we speak, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that changes in the next few days or in the next couple of weeks.”
If Snoop Dogg is to perform on the MCG, it would make him the third American artist/band in a row to do so on the AFL’s biggest day, with Katy Perry featuring last year and rock band KISS playing out in the 2023 edition.
On the 53-year-old’s website, the only tour dates he has booked currently are all within August, making him available to come down under for the performance.
The rapper who is most famous for his 2004 single, Drop It Like It's Hot, has toured Australia many times before, with his last tour being in 2023.
