Blackcaps all-rounder Rachin Ravindra is in doubt for the opening T20 of the Chappell-Hadlee Series at Bay Oval after suffering a facial injury during training.
New Zealand Cricket have confirmed that Ravindra collided with the boundary fence while practicing fielding and sustained a facial injury.
Speaking to media, captain Michael Bracewell said the 25-year-old was still being checked by medical staff.
"He's being assessed at the moment," Bracewell said. "It's too early to tell what sort of impact that will have.
"Hopefully it's just a minor graze, and he'll be out there tomorrow with us."
The Blackcaps issued a further update via social media Tuesday afternoon: "Ravindra received a facial laceration and will continue to be monitored by the medical team after passing an initial concussion test at the ground."
