U19 Queensland halfback Coby Black has made his move to the Raiders official after declaring his desire to leave the Brisbane Broncos.
Following the signing of Jonah Pezet from the Melbourne Storm via the Parramatta Eels to the reigning premiers for 2027 as the likely replacement for Adam Reynolds, this saw the 19-year-old declare his interest in a release from the club despite being contracted until the end of 2026.
And now, he has signed a three-year deal with the Green Machine, which will see him at the club from 2026, joining the likes of Ethan Strange and Ethan Sanders in the halves.
In a short statement from the Raiders’ Recruitment manager Chris Hutchison, the club is looking forward to having the talented youngsters within their ranks.
“Coby is a great young player and we’re very excited to welcome him to Canberra this season and continue his development at the Raiders,” he said.
“He has shown strong ability already, progressing through the ranks to debut in QLD Cup at the age of 18.”
While he is yet to play an NRL game, Black has played 21 games in the QRL with Souths Logan across the last two years.
