Kimmorley names the four sides that can win the premiership
Brett Kimmorley believes that two sides from the bottom half of the finals system have a chance of winning the NRL Premiership.
This season has been one of the most thrilling in recent memory. And with that, it has generated plenty of excitement for what’s to come over the next four weeks.
With that in mind, the 1999 Premiership player with the Melbourne Storm has named the four sides he thinks can lift the Provan-Summons Trophy.
For Kimmorley, he thinks that 1st-placed Canberra, 4th-placed Brisbane, reigning premiers Penrith, and even 8th-placed Sydney can win it all.
“I think there is four teams that can win the comp,” Kimmorley declared on SEN 1170’s Mornings.
“So obviously, the Canberra Raiders (are) definitely one of them.
“They’ve been the most consistent all year, strong pack of forwards, great kicking game, speed in the backline and no real major injuries.
“Then I would go the Brisbane Broncos.
“I just think they are a team that stands out for me. They are so good defensively, and last week they just hunted together. They’ve got one or two injuries, but they’ve got great depth in there.
“And Reece Walsh is in form, so they have players that can do things that others can’t.
“I’ll tip the Panthers, which we know that they can do it, their style stands up in semi-finals and Grand Finals.
“And I’ll also say the Roosters. I think they are the four that are genuinely a chance of winning the premiership.”
The Finals will begin on September 12 with the Melbourne Storm taking on the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at AAMI Park.
SEN will have live coverage of this match available through its radio network and on the SEN app.
Coverage will begin at 6pm AEST.
