Walsh divides opinion as toilet humour video backfires
Brisbane Broncos star fullback Reece Walsh has found himself in hot water after he uploaded a video of him drinking toilet water in a now-deleted social media post.
The Broncos released a statement on Monday night stating the club was aware of the video and labelled the video as a “poor attempt at humour”.
Brisbane further clarified that Walsh is in the process of renovating his home and the 23-year-old had recently installed a toilet that hadn’t been used.
SEN’s Andrew Voss believes this latest stunt would be of major concern to club and Walsh’s sponsor Musashi.
“The person who would have the biggest issue with this would be commercial sponsors,” Voss said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“Musashi would probably be one of them.
“I have seen his face plastered on a billboard, front and centre advertising a health supplement.
“24 hours later, there is Reece Walsh saying that you should drink toilet water.
“A sponsor may just have a problem with that.
“He is a high-profile figure and he posted it. No one put a gun to his head and demanded that he post it.
“The sponsors certainly have reason to be upset and the Broncos are probably just confused.”
This is not an isolated incident for Walsh. In May this year, Walsh uploaded a video to his TikTok account of him punching his friend with a boxing glove.
SEN’s Corey Parker is astonished that the Broncos and Walsh were forced to offer a written statement and apology for the video.
“Are we serious?” Parker said on SENQ Breakfast.
“He’s doing a renovation on his house. It’s a brand-new toilet. He’s doing his own renovations hands on with his mate.
“I’m more than happy to put my hand up and criticise someone they’re in the wrong but for this, seriously.
“For the Broncos, what else are they supposed to say?
“If the Broncos said we should just move on (I’d be fine with that).
“I’ve known Reece since he was 14. He’s a scallywag. People notice everything he does and he can’t even have fun.
“It blows my mind (and) he’s living rent free in people’s heads.
“It was all tongue-in-cheek.”
