The New Zealand women’s 3x3 basketball team has secured a Commonwealth Games bronze medal after beating Jamaica 18-13 on Thursday (NZ Time).
Eva Langton, Sharne Pupuke-Robati, Azure Anderson and Ella Fotu rebounded after a 21-9 semi-final loss to Uganda earlier in the day.
Pupuke-Robati said post-match it was their coach who forced the switch between games, reminding the team, “Not all winners win everything, you’ve got to lose some to win some.”
And the team was receptive to the feedback. “We took that in and we knew we didn’t want to feel like that again,” she shared.
However, the men’s 3x3 team will depart Glasgow medal-less after narrowly losing their bronze medal match to hosts Scotland, 18-16.
With the addition of the women’s bronze, New Zealand's current medal tally grows to 14, including three gold.
